The Chair
The chair is a rocking chair concept developed under my internship at Studio Chisel
It is made keeping in mind the traditional aesthetics, with minimal visible joineries and at least one point of detail that enhances the overall stance of the chair.
Inspired from Indo+Sveje’s DC10 chair and Hans Wegner’s most iconic Round chair I wanted the armrest to have a sleek look with curves that blend with the legs and leaves just a small edge coming out from the front which acts as a soft grip for the hand to hold and still doesn't stick out much visually.

Prototypes for armrest
Technical drawing of the rocking chair.
The armrest, leg and the seat are given extra support
and structural strength by an added wooden insert
which would fit into the grooves made.
The back leg is a little shorter than the front leg for a
more comfortable swing
The radius of the arc is directly proportional to the
height of the chair. It is calculated as 3 to 3.5 times
the height of the seat from the ground.
